Philip M. Leinbach, NCARB, AIA, CSI, REFP, of Reading, Pennsylvania, is the president of AEM Architects, Inc., which specializes in all aspects of design and planning of K-12 educational facilities throughout eastern Pennsylvania. Leinbach attended Temple University from which he obtained his Bachelor of Architecture in 1990.
Leinbach’s architectural career began in 1988 as an intern at the Philadelphia firm of Becker Winston Architects. He then joined AEM in 1991, and a few years later earned his Pennsylvania architect's license in 1994. He later procured his NCARB Certificate in 1999. He joined the ownership of the firm in 2000 and became president in 2012. Leinbach is also licensed to practice architecture in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. Leinbach has served as an expert witness on a number of Standard of Care cases since 2007.
Leinbach was appointed to the Pennsylvania State Architects Licensure Board in November 2012 and has served as secretary, vice president and current president. He has actively participated in NCARB since 2013 serving the Mid-Atlantic Region as secretary, vice-chair/treasurer, and the last three years as chair. He has also served on many NCARB committees and task forces including the ARE 5.0 Mapping Task Force, ARE 5.0 Case Study Task Force, ARE 5.0 Forms Assembly Task Force, Regional Leadership Committee, and Program Continuum Advisory Committee, as well as serving two years as the chair of the Policy Advisory Committee.
Leinbach has previously volunteered on the Occupational Advisory Committee of the Drafting & Design Technology program at the Berks Career and Technology Center, and Project Lead the Way at Hamburg Area School District. He also serves as an elder on the Board of Community Bible Church in Leola, where he and his family are active members.
