Redefining the Timeline to Licensure

Aspiring architects are starting and finishing the path to licensure at a younger age, according to data in the 2015 edition of NCARB by the Numbers.

The average age of a newly licensed architect in 2014 was 33.3—its lowest point in 15 years—with many students choosing to begin the process prior to graduation. In part, this drop can be traced to jurisdictional changes. Exam candidates in most jurisdictions now have the option to start testing prior to completing the (Intern Development Program) IDP.
