Update on NCARB Services

Editor's Note: This page was last updated on February 4, 2021. For the most up-to-date information about COVID-19’s impact on the delivery of the ARE, visit our ARE COVID-19 Update.

NCARB is monitoring the ongoing pandemic and is committed to supporting you on your career journey.

As our community continues to navigate the COVID-19 outbreak, we know this is a difficult period for many of our customers. We want to reassure you that NCARB is closely following the ongoing developments and is working hard to provide you with the services you need in this time of uncertainty.

While NCARB’s physical office is closed, our full team continues to operate remotely, and our services remain available to you. We remain focused on our mission to facilitate the licensure and credentialing of architects, at a time when the health, safety, and welfare aspect of our work is brought to the forefront of our thoughts and efforts.

  • Renewing your NCARB Record or Certificate: We are aware that some of our customers may experience a range of challenges as a result of the Coronavirus, including financial challenges. If you are impacted, please contact us to discuss how we can help.
  • Submitting transcripts or other paperwork: When possible, we highly encourage you to submit any documentation electronically rather than via physical mail. Because NCARB staff are working remotely, transcripts or other paperwork sent via the mail may take longer to process. To submit your transcript electronically, have your school transmit the transcript to transcripts@ncarb.org.
  • Reporting experience: The Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) is designed to allow candidates to report experience earned remotely. Read more tips from our staff on gaining experience during the pandemic.
  • Taking the exam: The Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) is currently being offered at available Prometric test centers and via online proctoring. To ensure candidates are not impacted by the closure of test centers, NCARB has issued a total of a 15-month rolling clock extension for candidates. Read more about the pandemic’s impact on exam services.

Our staff is here to support you if you have any questions or concerns regarding our services. As a reminder, our normal business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (ET). Thank you for your ongoing patience and support.
